Understanding My Monthly & Year-to-Date Calculations

Other than meter readings, you will also find detailed information of your performance property, including usage information:

  • METERS (Meters and meter readings for your site)
    • Meter Serial Number (Meter ID number located on your water bill or on your dedicated meter)
    • Meter Description (Front Yard Meter. Backyard Meter, etc.)
    • Unit of Measurement (HCF, Gallons, KGAL)
    • Year of Meter Readings
    • Start (Initial meter reading when you first registered your site)
    • Jan-Dec Meter Readings
  • ESTIMATED/ACTUAL WATER USAGE (Jan-Dec)
    • Evapotranspiration (Site Evapotranspiration amount expressed in inches)
    • 100% ETo (Site Evapotranspiration Rate expressed in unit of measurement)
    • Budget (Budgeted amount expressed in unit of measurement)
    • Site Usage (Amount of total water used by month, if you have a dedicated meter this number will be the same as your irrigation Usage)
    • Amount Over/Under Budget (Water units you are over or under your allotted water budget, Under expressed in green, over expressed in red)
    • % of Budget (Budget percentage rate you are at for this site year-to-date)
    • % of ETo (Evapotranspiration percentage rate you are at for this site year-to-date)
    • Notes (Special information about your site and how ETo numbers were calculated)
  • The accumulated numbers in the far right hand column will update after each meter reading is entered. These are your YEAR-TO-DATE totals. The important numbers in particular to pay attention to tell you how you are doing in regards to the budget are:
    • % of Budget (Budget percentage rate you are at for this site year-to-date)
    • % of ETo (Evapotranspiration percentage rate you are at for this site year-to-date)
    • Numbers in green mean you are at or below your budget goals for BASIC CERTIFICATION*.

    * EXPERT CERTIFICATION requires 5 sites at or below 100% of Budget AND 80% of ETo. Both standards MUST BE MET FOR ALL 5 SITES.

  • Below your monthly numbers, you will find the information you entered during your budget creation. This information includes:
    • CROP (Landscape type Cool season Turf, Shrubs and Ground Cover, etc.)
    • SUARE FOOTAGE (Square footage for each landscape crop)
    • CROP k (Crop Co-efficient or average ETo Rate for crop type)
    • AVERAGE DU (Average Distribution Uniformity for each crop type)
    • ANNUAL WATER BUDGET (Allotted water budget for each crop type)
  • SITE INFORMATION
    In the lower left of the page, you will find your sites information, including:
    • SITE ADDRESS
    • SITE TOTAL SQUARE FOOTAGE
    • SITE NUMBER OF RESIDENTS (Only if site is a mixed meter site)
    • SITE MANAGING COMPANY
    • SITE TYPE (Residential, Commercial, etc.)
    • SITE MANAGING WATER AGENCY
    • SITE MANAGERS
      • Site managers list all managers managing that particular property or authorized company manager or supervisor
  • CERTIFICATION HISTORY
    • Will give you your budget usage percentage rate and ETo percentage rate for the prior 12 months. These numbers are the numbers that will help calculate whether or not you are meeting the certification program requirements. BASIC CERTIFICATION must meet < 100% of Budget and 100% of ETo (soon be moving to < 80 %) & EXPERT CERTIFICATION must meet < 100% of Budget AND 80% of ETo for a minimum of 5 sites. Both standards must be met for all sites.
